Ken Ficara: Harmonica, loops
Produced by Ken Ficara
Recorded on Park Place
Another experiment based on Brian Eno's Discreet Music. This is a deconstruction of a beautiful country classic, with its simple harmonies allowed to drift against each other. They occasionally become dissonant but the melody never ceases to be haunting.
This is a single take, edited only for length. I played the melody once, straight through, as you hear it, and looped it on one track of my EHX 2880. Then as the melody played again, I recorded harmony parts, recording sections of those into three other loops, all different lengths. I then let those play onto the other tracks of the 2880, allowing them to decay and overlay almost at random and playing new pieces in. I concluded it by allowing it all to decay as I played the melody one more time.
