I read the news these days and I get real worried I'm scared that we're going to hell in a hurry Things are going wrong everywhere you turn And you get more concerned the more you learn Hey but you don't have to feel this way Paying attention just doesn't pay The news is scary, you don't understand Just don't read it, stick your head in the sand I spent years learning how to write But now I read my email and it gives me such a fright Spelling's gone to hell, grammar rules are disobeyed Everybody's writing like they failed third grade They say it doesn't matter, forget about the rules If you write in lower case it'll make you look cool Don't bother typing words, you can use abbreviations No one cares in an illiterate nation Politicians talk about what country to attack But Americans can't even find these places on a map "I can't pronounce the name but it's full of terrorists "So we better go invade though I don't know where it is." Soon we forget what the politicians told us They're lying through their teeth because they know we won't notice Inconvenient facts down the memory hole "We don't care, where's the remote control?"
